Disclosure Day 2026 Review :-
I went to see this purely on the strength of Spielberg because the trailer didnt offer much, but Spielberg never disappoints, does he? As the credits rolled I was actually in awe of how underwhelmed I was. And I sincerely hope I’ve missed the point or there is a hidden message I didn’t catch , and if I watch it again in 12 months time when everyones seen it and it gets some cult following I can look back and say ‘i was wrong’ (I did it with the Matrix!!) because I love Spielberg but on this occasion, sorry Steve. I just felt it was all a bit 20 years too late (maybe even 30 years). There was no wonder or bewilderment, no jaw drop moments, no fear or dread, i didn’t care for the characters, I didn’t care for the plot really. I think here lies a problem with the day and age we are in. Not wanting to drop any spoilers but i couldn’t help but think that if this really happened, i mean actually happened, today’s society on the whole wouldn’t care. Im not going to list the reasons because there are many, but for arguments sake, there are people out there who believe the earth is flat and people out there who believe cold hard facts are lies and everything we know is a lie or controlling mechanism. And from this kind of mentality i couldn’t commit myself to the care I was supposed to give the to ‘big reveal’ because in todays world it wouldnt be that big of a deal to the masses, however 20-30 years ago in a pre-smartphone, pre-social media, pre-tik-tok obsessed society, maybe this movie would have meant more. Its certainly not an awful movie, and the 2.5 hours went pretty quick. Cinematography is on Spielberg par and the soundtrack carries some of the set pieces well for a Spielberg alleged ‘big hitter’ I’m sorry, go and watch Obsession instead.
